Thanks for booking a lactation consultation with me!
A few quick things before we meet.
If you have not already paid for our visit my fees are due at the time of service (unless you’re an Aetna or Unicare subscriber). You can pay via cash, check, PayPal, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover Card. At the end of the visit I provide you with a superbill that can be submitted to your insurance company for reimbursement for my services; unfortunately I can’t guarantee that they’ll do so. I do not offer refunds for services rendered for any reason.
The best way to find out if your insurance company will reimburse for my services is to call the member services number on the back of your insurance ID card and ask about your coverage for lactation or breastfeeding help. I am an out-of-network provider. Sometimes they will ask you for a procedure code or diagnosis code; generally I use 99404 and 99203 for procedure codes and Z39.1 for a diagnosis code.
If we are meeting virtually please follow the instructions in your confirmation email and download Spruce, which is the HIPAA compliant platform we will use for our visit and to communicate afterwards. If we will be working on latching or bottle feeding during our visit your baby doesn’t need to be super hungry, but they DO need to be willing to eat so please don’t give baby a full feeding within an hour before we meet- snacks are preferred!
You will need to be in a room with good lighting so I can see you and baby. You may need another adult to be your “cameraman” so I can get a good look at what’s happening from different angles. Have everything nearby and ready that you’ll need or want to discuss/use during the visit (bottles, pumps, nipple shield, etc). If your baby is napping when our visit starts this is absolutely fine as it gives us time to chat before we dive in. Baby doesn’t need to be present for the consult if we’re only working on pumping, weaning, or other things that don’t require me to see a feeding.
As with all virtual video services please make sure you have other programs and windows closed on your computer/tablet/phone that we are using in order to have the best connection.
If we are meeting in person, please read my page about what to expect during a home visit. I promise you that I do NOT care if your house is messy. Pinky swear.
I look forward to meeting you soon!
